We have had a great year!
The students have had a wonderful year of music making in the music room:) Through singing solfege practice, primary grade students have developed the ability to match pitch while singing simple scale patterns. Their rehearsal weeks, graded performances and Sing & Tell offerings have provided strong evidence of improved tone quality, balancing sounds in groups and most of all, working as a learning community to achieve common goals. Students did a great job of organizing groups to perform along the way. Intermediate students in grades 3 through 5 practiced playing skills on soprano recorders. Their ability to play as a group has been fun to watch each week. Fourth graders have become experts in creating/playing rhythm patterns in 4! This skill was a focus all year as students listened, played sang and wrote to increase their abilities in this area. I am so proud of what they have accomplished:) Fifth grade students worked throughout the year to read music on the Treble staff. This was a big challenge as in the fall there were very limited skills in this area. Their ability to try new ideas/techniques and work together helped them to be successful music readers... just in time for Middle School chorus and band opportunities! Please encourage your students to play, sing, move and write through the summer! This will keep their skills strong and ready when we start in the fall. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER, EVERYONE!! |
